Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The war against Voldemort is not going well; even Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses. And yet . . . As in all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate--and lose a few eyebrows in the process. The Weasley twins expand their business. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince. So it's the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort--and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.

Since no one has posted anything yet. I'm going to make a list of questions that I think are a little suspicious. lolz...
1) Why are Ron and Hermione all over each other or something like that?
2) Why does Harry like Ginny?
3) Is the Half-Blood Prince really Voldemort?
4)Why is Slughorn's memory so important?
5) What in the heck are Horcruxes?
6) What's the deal with Snape, is he friend or foe?
7) What happened to the Order?
8) Who dies in the end of the book?
9) How come there isn't more info about the outside world in this book?
10) Why does someone important have to die in the end of the blasted book???
Hmm, I don't know what to write, but I'll say something anyway. I loved this book. it was great, except for Dumbledore dying. But I thought the whole thing between ron and hermione was/is so cute. anyway. I really liked this book. Can't wait to read it again
For reasons unknown, Dumbledore has died. Oh man! I know that it is just a simple book that I have read and that I enjoy, but this is too much for me. I cannot believe that such a thing has happened in the book. It almost seems surreal that so large and mysterious a character has been sacked at such a crucial part of the book. There are other things that concern me deeply as well. For instance, why did Harry have to break it off with Ginny despite the new relationships of Tonks and Lupin, Ron and Hermione, and of Bill and Fleur? It is strange to me that such a logical thing was done. Also, it was apparent to me the entire time that Harry wanted to get rid of Voldemort all by himself. However, it struck me quite dumb when he agreed to let Hermione and Ron accompany him on his missions: to find the Horcruxes and kill Voldemort.
Another interesting thing for me, jumping forward to the end of the book, is how Harry had shown such a somber attitude at the funeral, despite his every thought of happiness and cheer. He could feel nothing more powerful than that of happiness. Even in the bleakest of times, he always finds himself on the verge of some type of happiness. Is this the universal message here: love conquers all? I think my reasonable theory is that Harry will defeat Voldemort, not of his own doing, but by the love and compassion of those around him. Voldemort has to face Harry eventually, they both that this is certain. However, I think that Harry will die in the fight against Voldemort, as Harry has similar characteristics of Voldemort. This leads me to an interesting theory that I hope will not cause too much ruckus in the minds of you, all.
In the matter of horcruxes, the purpose and origin of horcruxes were discussed quite vividly and extensively toward the end of the book. After a lot of thought, I realize something quite interesting: the horcruxes that Harry is searching for are not that far away from him at all. He already has ideas of what he is looking for; this will make his journeying a little less dangerous because he knows a little of what he is walking into. If Harry has an idea of what he is searching for, it narrows the places he won’t have to go to look for them. Furthermore, in the book, Harry and Dumbledore discuss what the horcruxes could potentially be. In discussing such objects, Dumbledore also speculated that Voldemort used a snake, Nagini, as a horcrux also. Dumbledore soon after took this thought from his mind. It intrigues me that this piece of information should be leaked out so willingly. The idea of a living thing, able to make its own decisions, contained something so powerful and deadly within it, almost unbeknownst to the owner. What if Harry is a horcrux, himself? We know from every one of the books that Harry’s mother died to protect him from death and that her love kept him safe from Voldemort’s curse. We also know that murder is the one thing that can split the soul enough for a horcrux to be made possible. What if the murder of Harry’s mother was the act that sealed Harry as Voldemort’s seventh horcrux? That would mean that Harry would have to die in order for Voldemort to be killed once and for all, wouldn’t it?
I agree with Jordan that one of the reasons Dumbledore told Harry about the horcruxes is that he knew he was going to die sometime soon. I think, though, that one of the underlying factors was that Harry was a suspected horcrux. Dumbledore just didn't want to say it or confirm it in any way. I think the foreshadowing is tremendous and very scary! lolz
